Mechanical Licensing

To obtain a mechanical license for one of our songs, provided you are not changing any of the music or lyrics, please call the Harry Fox Agency at 212-370-5330, or write to them at The Harry Fox Agency, 711 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10017, or refer to their website: www.harryfox.com.

For mechanical licenses on less than 2,500 units, you may obtain a license online through HFA Songfile.

Reduced Mechanical Rates: We require an upfront advance on a minimum of 5,000 units on reduced rates. Please send your reduced mechanical rate request to:

Sampling/Interpolations/Adaptations

If you would like to use a Fox composition as a sample, interpolation, or adaptation, for release in the United States, please submit each request in writing and include the following information:

  1. The original song title being sampled, interpolated, or adapted;
  2. writer and publisher information of original song;
  3. title of the New Work;
  4. writer and publisher information for the New Work;
  5. name of the Record Company planning to release the New Work;
  6. projected release date;
  7. Artist's name;
  8. A copy of the new lyrics;
  9. Please send a CD containing both the original composition and the New Work containing the sample to:

Lyric Reprint

Please send your lyric reprint request in writing including the title, author, publisher, publication date, retail selling price, number of units to be printed, the territory of distribution and additional foreign language editions, and the page or pages on which the lyrics appear, to our print company:

Student Film Festival

This is a special license for student filmmakers exhibiting their work at film festivals only. You can use selected Fox songs at rates that reflect the limited rights being granted. Expect to pay between $250 and $1500 for a single song use, depending on exact use and timing.

We grant only synchronization rights to use the underlying musical composition. If you intend to use a specific recording by an artist, you must also get permission from the owner of the master recording - which is often Fox Music.

If you would like to use a Fox composition in your studen film, please submit each request in writing and include the following information:

  1. Film Project Name
  2. Projected release date of film;
  3. Song Title(s);
  4. Writer and publisher information for each song;
  5. Recording used (i.e. from soundtrack, sung on camera)
  6. Nature of Use in film (i.e. on camera vocal, background music, opening titles, end titles, etc)
  7. Lenght of use (i.e. :30 seconds, 1 minute)
  8. Please send your request to:
