With its new state-of-the-art control room, Fox Music's Newman Scoring
Stage is a premiere recording facility for today's top film and television's
scores. And if its walls could talk, they would tell you that the
stage floor (which is still in almost the same condition as when it
was built in the 1930's) has hosted recording sessions for some of
the most memorable music in Hollywood history.
Landmark sessions on the Newman include Julie Andrews' performance
of "The Sound of Music," Marilyn Monroe singing "Having a Heat Wave,"
Shirley Jones recording "Carousel," and various other sessions with
artists ranging from Elvis Presley to Ethel Merman and Donald O'Connor.
Since its re-opening in 1997, the Newman Scoring Stage has been busy
year-round with sessions for feature films (for Fox, as well as other
studios); such Fox television staples as "The Simpsons" and "King
of the Hill," and all kinds of other album and miscellaneous projects.
