Bio

Emmy-nominated composer Christopher Lennertz has his hands in feature films, television, video games, documentaries, and shorts, making him one of the most versatile in a new generation of composers. He has established himself as an authority on scoring for hybrid animation / live action (with popular films like Hop, Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore, Marmaduke, and Alvin and the Chipmunks), and has tackled with equal confidence adult comedy (Horrible Bosses), satire (Vampires Suck, Meet the Spartans, The Comebacks), intimate drama (The Open Road, Adam), ethnically-flavored fare (Tortilla Heaven), and fantasy (The Perfect Holiday). His music for the WB television series Supernatural earned him an Emmy nomination, and his extensive video game scores have included Tiberium, The Godfather II, James Bond: Quantum of Solace, Warhawk, The Simpsons, James Bond: From Russia With Love, Gun, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, Medal of Honor: European Assault, Golden Eye and Starhawk. He recently completed the box office hit Think Like a Man, the indie smash Girl In Progress and the Marvel short Item 47. Lennertz also recently scored Universal Picture’s Identity Thief directed by Seth Gordon, Thanks For Sharing starring Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow and NBC’s hit new series Revolution produced by J.J. Abrams. Coming up for Lennertz is Screen Gems’s Battle of the Year: The Dream Team.
“I’m a movie lover,” says Lennertz. “I love movies where music matters.” Born in Massachusetts, Lennertz studied film scoring at USC under composers like Elmer Bernstein, and apprenticed with Basil Poledouris and Michael Kamen. He broke into video game scoring on the popular Medal of Honor series, and scored his first hit film with 2007’s Alvin and the Chipmunks. He recently spearheaded A Symphony of Hope: The Haiti Project, which saw 25 film and television composers (including himself) write a collaborative five-movement symphony to benefit victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
